The City of Hamilton's Four Seasons Art Festival began yesterday evening.

The festival, which ends tomorrow, is designed to bring members of the public into contact with artists and their work.

Yesterday, an event called Art in the Dark saw work on display in various bars and restaurants around Hamilton, and also available for sale.

The festival continues today in front of City Hall with artists showing and displaying their work, which includes smaller art pieces and jewellery for sale.

There's also a self-guided tour available which takes the walker throughout the city to view the numerous sculptures and large pieces of art that grace businesses and city parks.

The festival concludes tomorrow with Art in the Park, when entertainment will be available throughout the afternoon in Par-la-Ville Park. Families are invited to bring their blankets and chairs to the free event, and there will be live art and numerous activities for children.

Danilee Trott, the city's events and projects manager, said: "This is a great opportunity for everyone from the art connoisseur to the novice to see and experience the wonderful art we have on display this weekend."
