CADA starts Facebook video campaign

Anti-drink drive organisation CADA have launched a Facebook video campaign in honour of Alcohol Awareness Month.CADA chairman Anthony Santucci said: “We have talked with a number of people in our community and posed three questions to them. We heard some wonderful responses which we will share with you on our Facebook.”The questions deal with topics including underage drinking, sobriety checkpoints, and Bermuda’s alcohol culture.“The answers were varied and interesting and a different person will be featured each day responding to a question,” he said.“We welcome feedback and urge everyone to return to our Facebook page daily and share their thoughts and comments.”CADA has in the past caused a buzz with their campaigns, placing graphic car smash scenes to discourage people from drink driving.On Wednesday Mr Santucci joined a host of local dignitaries at City Hall to proclaim April as Alcohol Awareness month. It is the fifth year in a row Bermuda has marked the event.Throughout the month CADA will host other events such as an open house on April 6.The charity will also be holding a tag day on April 21 and 23 as well as a Know Alcohol Quiz in the last week of April.Minister Michael Scott said CADA has successfully lobbied to amend the Liquor License Act regarding a number of issues.CADA also helped implement an amendment, which requires staff at bars to be certified in the responsible sale and service of alcoholic beverages.In addition to that they successfully lobbied for an amendment allowing police to close a licenced premises for 24 hours in the event of serious disorder of threat to public safety.Mr Scott added that CADA is urging Government to also implement changes which would allow police to demand roadside breathalyzer exams.
