Post Office officials today reminded the public that Monday, November 23 is the deadline for all surface mail to the United States and for surface letters and cards to Great Britain and Europe. All other deadlines have passed.

The deadline for parcel post airmail to Australia and New Zealand is Monday, November 30 at 9.30 a.m.

INFLUENZA VACCINE AVAILABLE HTH Influenza vaccine available Residents are taking early precautions against the 'flu.

The Health Department yesterday announced that due to increased requests for the Influenza Vaccine, it increased its supply this year.

Last year 1,892 'flu cases were reported to the department.

Medical officer Dr. David Barber said many of the cases involved children who just returned from a Christmas vacation abroad.

Adults and children who suffer from diabetes, chronic lung, heart, and kidney conditions are often recommended for the inoculation.

The vaccine is available from the Immunisation clinic off Victoria Street, which is open from 8.30 a.m. to noon from Monday to Friday and from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday if a prescription is presented. For further information contact the clinic at 236-0224.

WARNING ON BASE DRIVING MIL Warning on base driving Bermuda motorists may be banned from USNAS if they break Base regulations on Wednesday visits.

That is the warning from US Navy security personnel, who want visitors to remember safety rules that apply when driving or riding on the base.

"On Base, like in the States, motorists travelling in both directions must stop when a bus stops,'' said Police spokesman Sgt. John Dale. "You can only move off when the bus does.

"Also, you are not allowed to overtake any vehicle. If you are on a motorcycle you must wear a face guard, not just shades, and footwear.'' Allan Trott, 23, of St. John's Road, Pembroke, was fined a total of $650 and disqualified until November 13, 1994 by Mr. Judge on Wednesday.

He had admitted driving while disqualified, no insurance and riding an unlicensed motorcycle.

He had been disqualified in May for a year for a speeding offence, and was banned for another 18 months by Mr. Judge.

He told Mr. Judge that he was "more or less unemployed.'' Mr. Judge replied: "I know a lot of people who would like to have their cars washed. That's a good idea.''
