BSX index climbs
The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index edged up 2.16 points last week, as gains in BF&M and Belco Holdings barely offset drops in the share prices of six other stocks. The Index closed at 4,833.86 on fairly heavy volume of 82.974 shares worth $2.67 million.
Insurer BF&M ended the week up $1.25 or 7.35 percent at $18.25 on volume of 1,500 shares while Belco was up $1 to $24 on trading of 4,150 shares.
Typically, Index bellwether Butterfield Bank saw the heaviest volume of shares traded, with 37,705 shares changing hands as its share price slipped 25 cents to $56.
Bermuda Commercial Bank dropped $1 or 11.11 percent to $8 on volume of 3,494 whiles its warrants were unchanged at $1 on trading of 900.
Bermuda Container Line shares were hard hit during the week, falling $1.50 or 11.11 percent to $12 on volume of 4,950 shares and fellow transport group BAS fell 25 cents or $6.50 as 15,000 shares traded.
KeyTech ended an up and down week off five cents at $15.50. Trading was heavy with 15,132 shares moving.
Bermuda Paint maker Devonshire Industries fell 30 cents to $14.50, but trading was thin with just 100 shares being traded.
