Bermuda resident Zan Kirkland finished 80th out of 109 of the top under-16 US sailors in trials to determine the Optimist class national teams to compete in
Kirkland had a best finish of 24th in the seven-race trials which took place in Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, Maryland on the weekend.
In winds varying between light and moderate, managing the strong tidal currents proved critical in the outcome of the regatta.
But while Kirkland was "frustrated'' with his performance, he admitted the event was a good training experience.
BASKETBALL BAS The Bulls could've used some help from their NBA namesakes in the final of the Government After School Programme basketball tournament.
Comprised of players from Heron Bay and Purvis primary schools, the Bulls were beaten 10-6 by Somerset in the final at CedarBridge Academy on Monday.
Three teams, representing players aged five to 10, played two games each in a round-robin format, with the Bulls and Somerset compiling the best records.
