Cougars, Blazers do battle again

With Bermuda?s lopsided World Cup first round qualifying win over Montserrat out of the way, attention now switches to domestic action where three potential cliff-hangers are on tap tonight at BAA and Devonshire Recreation Club.

Devonshire Cougars and Boulevard are poised for what promises to be another intriguing clash at the Den (9 p.m.), while at BAA, First Division St. David?s go against Premier rivals Devonshire Colts at 7.15 p.m., followed by Premier title contenders Dandy Town and First Division St. George?s at 9 p.m.

Cougars and Blazers finished deadlocked at 2-2 after extra-time in their first quarter-final meeting at BAA Field on February 22.

However, Cougars, should fancy playing tonight?s replay on home turf, particularly with top poacher Raymond Beach back in the team.

Beach, the league?s top goal scorer, missed the first encounter through suspension and Boulevard will certainly have to keep a close eye on the player who has netted hat-tricks in his last three outings before picking up a third yellow card against North Village on February 17.

He rejoins his able sidekick Heys Wolfe. Together they have formed one of the most lethal attacks in local football over the past few seasons.

But as they proved in the first match, Boulevard won?t be pushovers as in captain Melchisedec Gibbons, Raymond Burgess, Torry Davis, Robert Wilson, Michael Parsons and veteran Leonard Hypolite, they possess a few proven match winners of their own

Tonight?s showdown will be preceded by a women?s match featuring Rude Girls and Somerset Cricket Club Hurricanes at 7 p.m.

At BAA, meanwhile, St. David?s and Colts will go head-to-head for the second time in nine-days. The teams finished tied at two goals apiece following an exciting contest at Lord?s which Colts forced into extra-time with a last gasp equaliser.

Dandy Town and St.George?s will then do battle in the nightcap after finishing deadlocked 1-1 after extra-time at St.John?s Field in their first encounter where the heroics of national team ?keeper by Troy Hall kept the East Enders? slim cup hopes alive.

St.George?s could find the going tougher this time around as league leaders Town look to keep alive their hopes of the ?double?.
