Painters Mr. Ivan Burgesson and Mr. Kenneth Pilgrim are working to cover an unpopular highlight of Bermuda's skyline.

Mr. Burgesson, owner of Burgesson Painting Contractors, has been given the job of painting the new incinerator chimney sky blue.

But it means using a special cage which takes five and half minutes to electronically lift to the top of the 247-ft chimney.

Mr. Burgesson is no stranger to the high spots, having painted the ZFB tower before it was blown down by Hurricane Emily, and the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse.

"It is very peaceful and quiet up there. And it is a great view of the whole Island,'' he said.

His colleague has been with him for five years. "I'm not really bothered by the height,'' said Mr. Pilgrim. "It's too late for that now!'' Mr. Burgesson is expecting the two coats necessary for the chimney to take another four weeks. Finishing off the rest of the incinerator building will take until the spring, he predicts.
