Station yesterday admitted driving a car with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.

Shirley Ann Thomas, 58, of Magnolia Court, Sandys Parish, was stopped by Police at 5.40 p.m. on December 22 last year at the junction of Parliament and Reid Streets in Hamilton.

She was attempting to drive down Parliament Street against the flow of traffic, a magistrate was told.

Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, said she told Police she was trying to reach Front Street. During the exchange, the officers noticed Thomas' breath smelled strongly of alcohol.

Her breath tests registered 200 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Thomas $450 and disqualified her from driving all vehicles for 12 months.

CDP ROAD SHOW CLD Child Development Project officers are going on the road. Beginning tomorrow in St. George's, project officers will each Wednesday be at one of four Government health clinics for parents who cannot get to the project's Palmetto Road headquarters.

The sessions will give parents an opportunity to discusss speech, language development, health and safety, child care, discipline and guidance, toys and play activities.

"We wanted to get out in the community and make it convenient for parents who cannot get to our location on Palmetto Bay Road,'' CDP supervisor Mrs.

Conchita Ming said.

She said children do not have to be present when their parents visit. The schedule would see project officers at the St. George clinic the first Wednesday of each month between 12.30 and 1.30 p.m., at Hamilton clinic the second Wednesday between 1.45 p.m. and 2.45 p.m., at the Warwick clinic on the third Wednesday between 12.30 and 1.30 p.m. and the Somerset clinic the fourth Wednesday between 12.30 and 1.30 p.m.

INTRUDER CAUGHT CRM A 32-year-old restaurant manager and an employee caught an intruder in the early hours of Saturday.

The pair were alerted after hearing noises at the back of the Victoria Street restaurant at about 2.10 a.m.

They found a man, and detained him until Police arrived.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Roseanda Jones said a 31-year-old Pembroke man was helping with inquiries.

GOLF CLUB BLAZE FIR Firemen were alerted to a small brush blaze at St. George's Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.

A Fire Service spokesman said the cause of the blaze was unknown.
