League action on the strength of good performances from Clem Lespere and Jue
Marlboro did manage to post the evening's third high team game and series of 942 and 2,701 but lost the last two games by close margins. The `old guys' Jim Godwin and Leon Smith were tops for Marlboro.
Spoilers took an identical 16-14 win from Terminators despite rolling short-handed. Dudley Browne did most of the damage with the top game of 256 and 610 series for the winners while Kevin Swan was high for the losers.
Gosling's kept pace with the leaders, taking a 26-4 win from Signature Card.
Although they placed no one on the honours list, a consistent team effort with Hilton Hayward led the way. For the losers, it was Clyde (Tango) Burgess with the high score.
The bulk of the honours went in the match between Tools and Equipment and Stevedoring Services with T&E winning 24-6. As luck would have it, Stevedoring rolled their top game of 955 and high series of 2,815 of the season, both good for second high honours for the evening.
T&E managed to post a 1,002 game and 2,933 series to take top team honours.
Individually, Ed Stovell had a 234 game and top series of 662 while Steven Riley led the winners with the third high game of 243 and second high series of 651 with Dean Lightbourne third with a 642.
The final match saw Thompson's rally in the last game to draw 15-15 with Team Spirit. Vernon Daniels' second high game was tops for Spirit while Leroy Ming managed to lead Thompson's.
Tonight's matches: Spoilers v Team Spirit; Signature Card v Marlboro; T&E v Terminators; Mix Ups v Thompson's; Gosling's v Stevedoring.
