Pair deny importing cocaine
Several men appeared in Supreme Court yesterday to deny a variety of drug offences during the July arraignment’s session.Dennis Zuill, 35, from Pembroke, and Dennis Thomas, 39, from Warwick, both denied conspiring to import 500g of cocaine to Bermuda between an unknown date and July 26, 2012.Both defendants had their bail extended until October, when their trial is set to begin.Also appearing before the court was 54-year-old Roger Wainwright, who denied possessing cocaine with intent to supply, possessing drug equipment. He further denied a charge of concealing the proceeds of criminal conduct.Mr Wainwright was remanded into custody, with the matter set to be mentioned later this month.And David Trotman, a 40-year-old foreign national, denied importing more than 700g of cocaine to Bermuda on December 18, 2012 and possessing cocaine with intent to supply.Mr Trotman was given a trial date in August and released on bail.A 44-year-old man meanwhile denied allegations a series of offences, including robbing and sexually assaulting a woman while wielding a blade.He also denied entering a Pembroke home as a trespasser, possessing a bladed article and stealing a cell phone.The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was remanded into custody. The matter will return to Supreme Court for trial later this year.
