Just like Kelly Rowland's new hit, Van Bronckhorst will be World Cup final 'Commander'
Wassup, Family? I can't resist the temptation to write more about the World Cup. All my teams are officially done! Argentina, France, BraziI, Portugal, England; they're all done as I sit here typing a beaten but gracious in defeat man, as Rudyard Kipling would have me be. I'm most disappointed for Ghana, though – what a horrible way to exit the World Cup. More on this after the top 20.
Holding at #1 is My Chick Bad by Ludacris featuring Nicki Minaj. Nicki is enjoying life in the fast lane, rubbing shoulders with Luda, Usher and the other ballers, shot callers and shottas.
Over, by Drake, improves to #2. Drake is one of the hottest new artists on the circuit. The ladies love him.
Tumbling to #3 is Neighbors Know My Name by Trey Songz. Rude Boy by Rihanna falls to #4.
Up to #5 is Unthinkable by Alicia Keys. You just can't keep a good woman down. Up to #6 is Nothing On You BoB featuring Bruno Mars. Climbing to #7 is L'il Freak by Usher featuring Nicki Manj, a former essential new jam and a hot song. Falling to #8 is Hard by Rihanna. Slipping to #9 is Hey Daddy, (Daddy's Home) by Usher featuring Plies. Up to #10 is There Goes My Baby by Usher.
Now some bangin' dance tunes, DJLT's favourite. Climbing to #11 is I'm Not A Superstar by Remady. You simply have to hear this one. It's not new; its been kicking in Europe since earlier in the year but it's just making its way to this side of the pond. Of course the cool DJs in Bda have been playing it for a while but the radio stations in Bermuda and the mainstream Bermuda market are not into dance music. That's a fact.
Still on a house tip, improving to #12, it's Break Your Heart by Taio Cruz featuring Ludacris, a pop hit this summer. Tumbling to #13 is Everything To Me by Monica. Fading to 14 is Tik Tok by Ke$ha.
Up to #15 is OMG by Usher featuring Will.i.am. Climbing to #16 is California Girls by cute and irrepressible Katy Perry, featuring Snoop Dogg, which I predict will be the pop anthem for the summer. Improving to #17 is a former essential new hit: Commander, by former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland featuring David Guetta. David Guetta is one of the hottest producers around these days. He keeps putting out hit after bangin' hit. Falling to #18 is Say Something by Timbaland featuring Drake, a former essential new jam.
Now the new jam. In at #19 is this week's monster new jam, the soca Road March Anthem for 2010 – Planc by JW and Blaz. This one rocks the spots in the soca community, throughout the Caribbean and will be on display at Caribana in Toronto – too bad I will not be there this year. Tumbling to #20 is Sexy Chick by David Guetta Featuring Akon.
Now back to this week's word – World Cup Prediction. This is a tough one to predict but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Spain will lose to the Flying Dutchmen. Of the two teams, I should probably support Spain, since I've spent more time in Spain than in the Netherlands. Also, I speak more Spanish than Dutch. I can't figure out Dutch. I'm usually pretty good with languages but I haven't spent enough time there to pick it up. All I can say is Guta morga (good morning and Tutsince (goodbye). I guess this means another trip is necessary to Amsterdam! But I digress; back to the footy (a word I shouldn't use because the English, who coined it, are long gone).
For the same reasons I changed from Liverpool to Arsenal – they had more players that looked like me and they played far more attractive soccer – I should support the Dutch (although Spain has been playing some good 'ball lately and Arsenal's captain Fabregas is Spanish).
So I'm torn between these two European countries.
However, I just had a quick look at my map and I remembered my most recent trip to the Netherlands. The Amsterdam airport is colourful and pretty. The people are now all probably dressed in bright orange. The country is much smaller than Spain and they really do know how to party.
Nevertheless, I declare that I am supporting the Netherlands the rest of the way. Of course, given the fact that every team I have rooted for thus far has lost; this means that Spain will probably win it all. But I'm with the Dutch the rest of the way.
I've seen the way Germany undressed my Argentina team and made them look like a reserve team. And Spain beat them. But the Netherlands have never won a World Cup and to do so would be a feat for them, a relatively smaller country.
Kenny Thompson, a well known student of football in Bermuda, is a huge fan of the Dutch style of football and has worked hard to bring that style here.
So, in closing, DJLT predicts the Netherlands winning 2-1. I think Spain will be able to score a goal against the Netherlands because the Dutch can be a bit careless at the back, especially if they have a lead. Spain has a strong defence and have not conceded many goals; but they also don't score very many. Thus, the final will be Netherlands 2-1 over Spain. Now let's see if I'm a prophet!
Nuff respect for South Africa for hosting one of the best world cups in recent times! And they said an African country couldn't do it! Take that haters! Peace … DJLT.
