Roban calls for UBP apology to HRC

Progressive Labour Party Sen. Walter Roban yesterday called for the United Bermuda Party to apologise to the Human Rights Commission over Patricia Gordon-Pamplin's complaint that Sen. David Burch had used the term "house niggers" on his radio show.

Mrs. Gordon-Pamplin was told last month in a phone call that the HRC would not be investigating the complaint. As a result, the Commission was accused by Sen. Bob Richards of the UBP of lacking "testicular fortitude".

However, it later emerged that there had been a mix-up at the HRC, and that it would be investigating the complaint after all. As a result, Sen. Roban called on Sen. Richards yesterday to withdraw his "caustic remarks" about the Commission.

Responding to this, Sen. Richards said that it was only after his remarks that the full picture had emerged about the situation.
