was the icing on the cake for US tabloid the National Enquirer.

Rumours of a romance between silver medalist Kerrigan, 25, and older married man Jerry Solomon, her agent, have been buzzing since early this year.

But catching Kerrigan and Solomon, 40, in a "love nest'' -- at the Pink Beach Club last month -- was just the proof the Enquirer needed to expose the affair that reportedly busted up his marriage.

"Nancy Kerrigan in love nest with married man,'' screamed the November 15 Enquirer headline.

And below it read, "Wife rages: She's a homewrecker...a witch!'' According to the Enquirer, "squeaky clean'' Kerrigan's visit early last month was more than a relaxing break from a hectic US performance schedule.

She and Solomon "spent a romantic weekend holed up'' in a guest cottage on the Island, reporter David Duffy revealed.

"Jerry rented a $350-a-night one-bedroom cottage at the Pink Beach Club on the island's ritzy South Shore, making the reservations in his name,'' Duffy reported after a "wide-ranging investigation''.

"He and Nancy stayed inside much of the time. Instead of eating out, they enjoyed intimate dinners in their cottage. When the two went out, they were seen taking long walks -- strolling hand in hand along the shore. They clearly wanted to be alone.'' Since returning from Bermuda, the "lovebirds have gone house-hunting together'', Duffy said.

And Kerrigan's dad threatened to "punch out'' Solomon if he did not marry his daughter. A Christmas engagement is possible, the tabloid said.

The Enquirer said Solomon's wife and mother of his young son, Kathy, 36, filed for divorce in July having learned of her husband's affair from a private investigator she hired after becoming suspicious of the time the couple was spending together.

The Enquirer claimed she told a relative the adultery mentioned in her divorce was committed by Solomon with Kerrigan, whom he began representing two and half years ago.

"The messy scandal threatens to sully the squeaky-clean image of graceful Nancy, who became America's darling after she was clubbed on the knee last January and bravely went on to win an Olympic silver medal in February,'' the story said.

Nancy's mother, however, told reporters at an autograph signing this week with her daughter that the affair began long after Solomon and his wife split last October.
