Why Goater is crucial to our campaign

mistake about that.

According to reports last week, Shaun said Bermuda didn't need him for the next round against Antigua. But we do.

He adds a lot to the team with his ability and when he's around, the kids are more confident. He can help our cause tremendously.

I think Shaun should come out and say what he means. If the fact is that he doesn't want to play, then he should stop beating around the bush and say it.

It's not true to say we don't need him, we do.

We also need the other pros Kyle Lightbourne, David Bascome and Meshach Wade.

I will be speaking to David on the phone soon. We liked the way he played in the BVI. His and Meshach's club Harrisburg lost two games over the weekend and I think that means their chances of reaching the indoor league play-offs have probably gone.

Looking back on Sunday's 9-0 win against the BVI, it was a good victory, but you've got to bear in mind that the opposition weren't great.

What was pleasing to me was the performances of the players and in particular the younger ones who came in and showed people what they could do. I felt Karl Roberts, Stanton Lewis, Tokia Russell, John Barry Nusum and Tommy Carter all did particularly well.

In Tommy's case, what amazes me is how people keep wanting to know where we got him from. I like to think that Robert Calderon, Mark Trott and I know talent when we see it and when I say he can play, I want people to believe it.

He showed what he can do when he came on and the only thing he is lacking is match fitness. Tommy's got the right attitude, he gets other people to play and he's a warm person. I'd like him to stay involved with our campaign.

It was good to see John Barry Nusum do well and grab a couple of goals. We have always rated him highly, but we do understand that school needs to come first for him and that will be in his best interests in the long run.

Overall, it was a good performance and very satisfying to me, but I was especially pleased for the great bunch of guys who make up our coaching staff.

They deserve the success.

The nine goals gave the crowd plenty to cheer about, but I'm not getting carried away -- it will get tougher. Having been a pro for a long time I know you're only as good as your last game.

There is no way we will let the players get complacent. We need to concentrate on moving the ball around quicker and not having too many touches. If we can do that we have the makings of a decent team.

Because of the date changes for the next round, we may have nearly a month to prepare for Antigua. Ideally, we would like a friendly match during that time, but I know it is a question of finances.
