UK firm revise plan for Classic
submitted a second set of proposals to Bermuda's Department of Tourism.
British promotions firm Lynam and Creasy Sponsorship drew up plans for the tournament earlier this year and are now hopeful of the scheme becoming reality.
The company approached the Department of Tourism and Bermuda Football Association with their idea. And discussions between company representatives and tourism officials took place two weeks ago at a meeting in London.
The Department of Tourism confirmed this week they had considered the initial plans and had asked for revised proposals from the firm.
Paul Livingstone, of Lynam and Creasey Sponsorship, is the driving force behind the idea, but he was reluctant this week to outline what sort of event he envisaged.
"I don't think I should say anything about that at this stage,'' said Livingstone.
"We have sent proposals to them (the Department of Tourism) and we have sent further proposals in the last 48 hours, which are now being considered. We shall be speaking again in the next few days.
"We are very optimistic that the event will take place in Bermuda.'' It is likely the tournament would feature veteran players no longer playing top-level soccer, like Bermuda's well established World Rugby Classic.
