Prison Commissioner Edward Dyer told The Royal Gazette that a front page story printed in its March 18 edition had raised two concerns.

The story, entitled "Sentencing of sex offenders to face review'', reported that convicted child killer and rapist Chesterfield Johnson had been released from prison. It added that prison psychologist Christopher Snyder "admitted that Johnson was not able to benefit from the new rehabilitation programme'' for sex offenders in the prison. Mr. Dyer said Johnson was still in prison and was voluntarily participating in the in-house sex offenders treatment programme.

He stressed that Johnson was a regular participant who had also volunteered to participate in the community based sexual offenders programme when he was released from prison which was due to be up and running by then.
