A 66-year-old man was dragged to the ground and punched before being robbed of his wallet in Devonshire on Friday afternoon.

Police were called the scene on Border Lane North, near the junction with Orchard Grove at 2.15 p.m.

The victim, who is from Warwick, told them that he had been walking in the area when an unknown man approached him from behind and placed him in a headlock, dragging him to the ground. The suspect punched the victim about the head and body before removing his black leather wallet containing $140 in cash and personal items.

The robber made good his escape on a silver coloured motorcycle. The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital to be treated for cuts and abrasions to his face and knees but was later released. The suspect is described as a dark brown skinned male, approximately 5ft 5in tall of stocky build, wearing a black windbreaker, black jeans and a large gold chain.
