Kawesi Wilson, of Cooks Hill Lane, Sandys, pleaded guilty to several driving offences when he appeared before Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis.

Police prosecutor, Insp. Peter Duffy said officers on patrol on Camp Hill, Southampton, stopped Wilson's auxiliary cycle on August 27 at 10.20 p.m.

An examination of the cycle found that its spark plug was facing up, an indication that the engine had been changed from that fitted for an auxiliary cycle to that fitted for a motorcycle.

Wilson told the officers that the bike was his but that he did not know how the engine got on it.

The cycle was impounded and examined, proving the engine to be 69.8 cubic centimetres.

Wilson was disqualified from driving from the courts for riding a motorcycle while under the age of 18 until May 11, 1993.

On December 4, Wilson was stopped by officers at 10.50 p.m. while driving a cycle. He was found to be disqualified.

On December 10 at 9.25 a.m., officers travelling along Middle Road in Southampton were approaching its junction with Old South Road when they noticed Wilson riding a cycle.

The officers knew Wilson to be disqualified and put on emergency equipment, signalling for him to stop.

Wilson led the police car on a high-speed chase through Southampton and Sandys before being caught.

An inspection of the cycle found the engine to be 59.3 cubic centimetres, greater than the size allowed by law for an auxiliary cycle.

For driving a motorcycle while under the age of 18 on August 12, Wilson was fined $100 and disqualified from all vehicles for one year until May 11, 1994.

For driving without third party insurance, Wilson was fined $300.

For driving while disqualified on December 4, Wilson was fined $300 and also forbidden from driving for one year.

For driving while disqualified on December 10, Wilson was fined $300 and given an additional year off the road.

For driving in a manner dangerous on the same date, Wilson was fined $350 and given one year off the road. For having no third party insurance, Wilson was fined $300.
