stealing $29,112 from The Harmony Club.

Carol Jane Thomas, 36, of Pembroke, is to be sentenced in Supreme Court on January 20.

Thomas, who worked at The Harmony Club, admitted at the monthly arraignments to five fraud-related crimes which facilitated the theft between January 1, 1991 and January 24, 1992.

On November 1, 1991, she omitted a $16,960 entry from the receivable column in The Harmony Club's accounting books, Puisne Judge Mr. Justice Ward was told.

The money was received from a travel agency.

She committed similar offences twice on November 19, 1991, once on December 30, 1991, and once between December 5, 1991 and January 7, 1992, the court was told. The amounts were $3,658, $2,250, $1,960, and $4,284 respectively.

Mr. Delroy Duncan, who appeared for Thomas, asked that the remaining facts not be read in court until a social inquiry report had been prepared.

Mr. Justice Ward granted Mr. Duncan's request that bail of $1,000 be extended until sentence was passed. "She does have a family that is utterly dependent on her emotional and financial support,'' Mr. Duncan said.

Meanwhile, a Pembroke man was remanded until Thursday for sentencing after he pleaded guilty to 39 offences related to the purchase of foreign currency.

Lorance Sinclair Butterfield, 31, admitted making false statements when purchasing foreign currency and failing to surrender the currency once it was no longer needed for the stated purpose.

The false statements related to trips to New York in February, September, November, and December of 1991, and April and May of 1992; a trip to Boston in March of 1991, and a trip to Jamaica in April and May of 1992.

Butterfield, who was not represented by a lawyer, had his bail extended. A trial date is expected to be set on February 1 for Andre Terence Minors, who pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

The charges relate to an October 13, 1991 incident involving Crystal Michelle Pearman.

Minors, 28, of Hamilton Parish, was remanded in custody. He is represented by Mr. Archibald Warner.

American Edwin Santiago, 20, was remanded until February 1 for mention. The New Yorker pleaded not guilty to importing cocaine into Bermuda and possession of cocaine intended for supply on August 15, as well as conspiring to import cocaine into Bermuda between July 1 and August 15.
