Town’s second-half blitz sinks X-Roads

On the mark: Angelo Simmons was among the scorers for Town

X-Roads 0 Dandy Town 3

Dandy Town struck three times in the second half to defeat X-Roads at a cold and blustery Garrison Field yesterday.

Town’s Angelo Simmons provided a taste of things to come in the fifteenth minute when he forced a fine save from X-Roads goalkeeper Dashun Cooper, who tipped the ball over the bar.

A minute later Town’s Doreko Walker was gifted a golden opportunity to put his side ahead but also placed his effort wide.

X-Road’s Kashi David-Jones then made a long run from midfield into the box and laid of a pass that rolled dangerously across the face of goal but none of his team-mates could get a foot to it.

In the 55th minute X-Roads’ Jahmel Swan fed a defence-splitting pass to Tymon Daniels, but he could only watch on as Town keeper Troy Hall saved with his legs for a corner kick.

The ensuing kick saw Philip Parsons skim a header off the crossbar.

Town ramped up their attacks and pinned X-Roads inside their own half for the remained of the match.

Simmons got the goal blitz rolling when he blasted home from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute after being dragged down by a X-Roads defender. Simmons was at it again in the 80th minute when he intercepted a pass by Jamin Furbert deep in the X-Roads half.

Simmons raced into the box, drew the goalkeeper out, then laid off a perfect pass to an unmarked substitute Jahnazae Swan to tap home from close range. X-Roads undaunted by Town’s two strikes, made a flurry of substitutions trying to stem the tide and find their own elusive first goal.

Their aspirations were soon dashed with the Hornets’ third strike by midfielder Nizigh Spence.

Eluding two defenders just inside the penalty area, Spence darted to his right to avoid a tackle and squeezed off his shot that found the back of the net.
