Saltus jazz band releases new CD for the Ewan fund
percent of sales will go to a scholarship fund set up in a former student's name.
The Saltus Jazz Band's Millennium Mix CD contains nine songs and is available for $20 from the school's senior music department.
For every CD purchased, the band will donate $5 to the Ewan Sampson Scholarship Fund which commemorates the much-loved Saltus student who was killed in a motorbike accident three years ago.
Band director Lisa Maule said: "Ewan was a fine trumpeter and we want to remember him by contributing to the scholarship which his parents have established.
"Fortunately, a friend of the school, Steve Gallant, has helped us to record and produce our CDs and he has even designed the cover. It makes a very fine tribute to Ewan.'' The songs on the CD are Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, Theme from Peter Gunn, At The Hop, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, YMCA, Girl From Ipanema, Livin' La Vida Loca and Mambo Number Five.
