Tourists are being exposed to the dirty side of Bermuda with a water reservoir that is need of a clean-up.

The massive water catchment tank at the corner of Government Hill Road and Naval Tanks Hill has lost its white sheen and is giving a bad image of the Island, says resident Kim Swan.

The St. George's North United Bermuda Party candidate said the tank, which measures 125 yards by 30 yards, is black with filth and is in desperate need of renovations.

He said the tank -- which is part of the former Club Med site -- had gradually got worse as time has passed, and should be targetted immediately.

"It needs work to tidy it up, our white roof tops are a symbol of our Island,'' he said.

"At a time when we should polishing up our image, this is an area where we can do something,'' he said.

"I don't want to be apologising to tourists for it.'' Mr. Swan said the tank is visible to tourists walking to Tobacco Bay and to cruise ship passengers arriving at St. George's.

In addition he says golfers at St. George's Golf Club, where he works as the golf professional, are also exposed to the eyesore.

The water is not used for drinking, but Mr. Swan believes it should be cleaned up without delay.
