Eleven members of the Victor Scott Primary School choir gave passersby a musical treat on Monday as they performed an impromptu song outside The Royal Gazette offices.

The student choir left the Island yesterday to perform in Atlanta, Georgia where they will attend the Stone Mountain event.

"This is only part of the 43 people travelling," said music teacher Lisa Smith. "Thirty-two (students) are performing and they are P4 to P6 students."

The trip is being sponsored by the Ross "Blackie" Talbot foundation, which is paying for 22 of the students' expenses.

Clement Talbot of the foundation said: "As you know the RBTF's charitable mission is aimed at advancing education in the performing arts through scholarships, financing musical productions featuring primarily Bermudian youth and providing funding for music lessons and the purchase of musical instruments.

"The Trustees of the RBTF are excited to support the Victor Scott Musical/Educational Tour for 22 of its students.

"This US tour will be cultural and enriching experience for the students providing them with an opportunity to compete and interact with students from different social and economic backgrounds.

"The RBTF is very proud to donate $5,000 which will assist with the travel and accommodations cost of this worthy tour."

The students will return to the Island on April 21.
