Police: truck driver arrested after three-way collision
A 64-year-old man was arrested for drink-driving after being involved in a three-way collision involving a trio of heavy trucks.
Police today confirmed the truck driver, a Sandys resident, sustained non-life threatening injuries during the incident yesterday morning.
The collision took place at about 9.40am in Southampton, near the intersection of South Road and Harbour View Drive, which leads to the Fairmont Southampton.
One truck attempted to overtake another when they collided, which led to the overtaking vehicle getting involved in a collision with another oncoming truck.
It then overturned and blocked the main road.
No other injuries were reported, though traffic was diverted for about 2½ hours while the scene was processed.
Joe Vieira Trucking, which is understood to be the owner of the overturned vehicle, has been contacted for comment.
Any witnesses were encouraged to call Pc Kori Jackman on 211 or by e-mailing kjackman@bps.bm.
