Bermuda Container Line Ltd. rose 36.12 percent ($3.45) on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.

The shipping company traded 2,000 shares to close at $13.

Elsewhere, the Ascendant Group Ltd. boosted its share price by 10.71 percent ($1.50) to $15.50, as 804 shares changed hands.

West Hamilton Holdings Ltd. also climbed 15 percent ($1.50) to $11.50, with 500 shares transacted.

Butterfield Bank, meanwhile, traded 13,300 common shares as it increased 10 cents (2.5 percent) to $4.10. The bank's preference shares also fell $1 (0.08 percent) to $219, with 221 shares transacted.

The Index, as a whole, rose 67.18 points (3.26 percent) to 2,125.83, as 16,604 shares worth BD$98,690 and 221 shares worth US$271,388.67 changed hands.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 1.62 points (0.16 percent) to 955.4.
