Rangers pair rewarded for cup final heroics
Their electrifying batting lit up last weekend's Belco Cup final and yesterday Janeiro Tucker and Lionel Cann were rewarded for their match-winning heroics.
Southampton Rangers captain, Tucker, received the $1,000 winners' cheque for his victorious club from Belco president and CEO Garry Madeiros at the company's headquarters.
Tucker scored 72 and picked up two wickets with his medium pace in Rangers' 133-run triumph over St. David's at Lord's last Sunday.
Cann, who belted the ball to all parts of his former club's ground in an unbeaten 128 before snapping up three St. David's scalps, accepted $250 for his Man-of-the-Match award.
Beaten finalists St. David's received $750 and semi-finalists Western Stars and St. George's, $500 apiece.
Following the presentations, Bermuda Cricket Board chief executive Neil Speight revealed that $4,763 was raised from T-shirt and raffle-ticket sales at the final and this will go towards the Delby Borden Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Belco also contributed $1,000 to the fund.
