Bermuda parathlete Jessica Lewis will be sporting a new helmet when she takes to the track in Canada this week courtesy of Bicycle Works.Lewis, who competed in the London 2012 Paralympics, has to meet the new requirements of rule changes that includes athletes wearing helmets in sprinting events. The rule change shouldn’t affect Lewis as she previously wore a helmet when competing as a junior.“It won’t be any difference in my racing apart from having it on my head,” said Lewis. “I’ve worn one before when I was a junior so it is more about getting reacquainted with it rather then learning how to ride with it on.”Neil de St Croix of Bicycle Works is in the process of finding out if there is a specific helmet Lewis must use or whether she can wear a more aerodynamic helmet to compete with.“We are pleased to help her in any way, but we just need to find out if there is a specific style of helmet she must wear or if we can fit her with something that will help her go faster,” he said.
