The cut-off date for entry to the 54-hole strokeplay tournament is May 22.
The Bermuda Golf Association has already received an entry from regular visitor Harreld Kirkpatrick of Florida.
Runners-up in last year's event were Glenda Todd and Noel van Putten.
Meanwhile, the final medal play round for 1991-92 will take place at the Mid Ocean Club on May 23.
Players must have entered six scores during the year to be eligible for an award.
Entries for the Medal Play should be telephoned to BGA secretary Tom Smith by 5 p.m. on May 19, while for the Seniors Championship, a completed entry form, together with a fee of $130, should be mailed to BGA, Box 433, Hamilton HM BX, or delivered personally to the secretary.
Bailey's Bay Cricket Club's golf section will hold a meeting tomorrow at 6.15 at the club. All teams for Sunday's tournament should be submitted by then.
CHESS CHS In third-round action in the Marks Double Elimination Knockout Tournament, the Islanders trounced the Independents 15-4.
Independents paid the price for defaulting seven points on boards three, four and seven.
The match on number one board, between Bermuda's top two players, Nick Faulks and Harry Kast, ended in a draw.
Tonight, Islanders take on undefeated Bishops needing at least a draw to stay alive. In the consolation final, Independents play the Kingfishers with Independents white on the odd numbered boards.
On Saturday, the Bermuda schools will be holding their chess tournament at Saltus starting at noon.
Six teams have entered in the junior division -- two each from Saltus and Gilbert, and one each from MSA and West Pembroke.
Gilbert are the defending champions.
In the senior division, MSA have entered two teams, while Berkeley, Saltus and Warwick Academy have entered one apiece.
Berkeley are the defending champions.
Each team will comprise five players, with juniors 12 years and under, and seniors 13 and over.
The tournament is under the direction of Harry Kast who can be contacted at 295-4274.
FISHING FSH The Department of Tourism and the Bermuda Game Fishing Association have revived the once popular Opening Day Tournament Fleet Parade, which will take place on May 17.
Fishing boats bedecked with flags will assemble at Albouy's Point ready for the 7.30 a.m. start. They will then head up the Harbour led by Alan De Silva's MAKO IV.
When they pass through Two Rock Passage it will be all systems go.
Fishing hours are from 8.30 a.m. until 3.00 p.m. while weigh-in stations will be set up at Mangrove Bay Public Wharf, Somerset; and Ordnance Island, St.George's, from 4.30 p.m. until 5.30 p.m.
Entry forms and tournament rules are available from the reception desk at the Department of Tourism in Global House on Church Street, or from Flybridge Tackle, Fourwinds Tackle or the Sportsman's Shop.
The entry deadline is May 15 at noon.
KARTING KRT Jeffrey Benevides scorched back into the overall lead in the race for the 100cc Open title at the US Naval Annex, Sandys, on Sunday.
After three first-place finishes in the day's races, giving him a total of 27 points, he overtook previous points leader Mark North, who had mechanical problems in the first race of the day.
In the Yamaha class, Jason North dominated the day's events, with Edwin Wickham, the 1990-91 champion, appearing to be down on power.
There were surprises in store as the 80cc juniors got in on the action. Gerald Saltus, the 1990-91 champion, had to settle for third-place points as Richard Wallington stamped his authority by taking three firsts. John Rawlins marched on with second-place points.
The Armed Forces Grand Prix on May 17 should be another interesting race day at the Annex.
SAILING SLG The West End Sailboat Club opened its 1992 racing season with Rudy Bailey in Temptation winning both races on Sunday for the Lee and Hayward Cup and Philpott Cup.
The races started at the club and took the fleet to Pearl Island and back in 12-knot winds.
Second behind Bailey in the first race was Shannon Simmons in Maxi while Howard Simmons in My New Mary was third.
In the second race, Shannon Simmons was second with Gladwin Lambert in Melody third and Howard Simmons fourth.
The long distance race, the highlight of the Comet season, is scheduled for June 15 from St. George's to Somerset.
ATHLETICS ATH The Primary Schools Track and Field Championships will be held at the National Stadium tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. with the opening ceremonies. The first event starts at 10.30.
