Carnival cancels cruise
MIAMI (Bloomberg) ? Carnival Corp., the world?s largest cruise operator, cancelled the April 2 Caribbean voyage of its Star Princess ship, the second cancellation after a fire last week killed one passenger and damaged cabins.
Travellers who had booked the seven-day cruise will receive a full refund for the cruise and air fare as well as a 25 percent credit toward a future trip, Carnival?s Princess Cruises line said in a statement on its website. The Miami-based company had previously cancelled a trip scheduled to depart from Fort Lauderdale yesterday.
The cost of the fire and the canceled cruises hasn?t been determined, Carnival spokesman Tim Gallagher said. Carnival is evaluating damage to the four-year-old at the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport. One passenger died of a heart attack and 11 were injured after the fire on March 23 was started by a cigarette.
