finals taking place of the BIAS Adult/Child team tournament.

The event started back in early October and has seen 36 teams comprising of an adult and child aged 12 or younger competing in a round robin format.

The surviving 16 pairs will take part in the knockout finals today and tomorrow.

Mel Caines, a member of last year's winning team, finds himself partnered with another excellent prospect in newcomer Josef Smith and they will start as favourites to take this year's title after easily winning their group in the round robin stage.

The handicap competition, however, means that all teams are given a fair chance.

Another formidable pair is that of Bermuda's number two ranked under-13 girl, Caty Luckhurst, with number two ranked under-17 boy Justin Robinson. They scored 35 out of 36 points in the round robin stage and will carry the highest score into the finals.

Also featured this weekend will be a number of family teams with Laura and Bruce Robinson, Simon and Alan Bergl, Iain and Viv Redford, Robert Maycock and Roger Sherratt, Jeffrey and Tim Counsell, Kelly and Christine Barnes, and Fraser and Johnny Moore all competing for top family honours.

The prize for the junior of the winning team will be a $500 investment fund with BIAS.

Play begins at 10.00 a.m. today with the semi-finals starting at 11.00 a.m.

tomorrow followed by the final at 2.00 p.m.
