But senior officers stressed that the Postal Security Action Group warning has been sent to all member countries of the group -- and not just Bermuda.

A Police spokeswoman said: "This notification is for information purposes only -- it does not mean that Bermuda will be receiving, or has been singled out for, receipt of any of this type of mail and should not be viewed as cause for alarm.'' A number of the letter bombs -- postmarked December 21 last year in Alexandria, Egypt -- have been received in Europe.

The bombs are contained in plain white envelopes measuring around 5.5 inches by 6.5 inches and carry Egyptian stamps.

The explosive and detonator are contained inside a musical greetings card and cannot be detected by bulk X-ray techniques.

The bomb is designed to detonate when the card is taken out of the envelope or opened.

Anyone receiving large, unusually heavy letters bearing stamps and no return address -- or an unknown return address -- should treat them with caution.

Any suspicious letters or packages should not be opened and Police should be contacted.

WITNESS APPEAL POL Witness appeal Police have launched appeals for two members of the public to come forward as they could be able to assist in ongoing investigations.

Firstly they are looking for a white woman with shoulder length blonde hair who saw a man throw something into the bushes on Middle Road near Whale Bay in Southampton at about 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

As this woman ran to catch her bus she shouted to a female Police officer and told her what she had seen. She was unable to stop as she had to catch her bus.

Police officers searched the area where the object was said to have been thrown and found a quantity of drugs. They would like this woman to call P.c.

And they would like the cab driver who picked up a white woman from the Esso gas station on Richmond Road in the early hours of Saturday morning and delivered her to Middle Road in Devonshire to call Det. Insp. Shaw at 295-0011.

Apparently this driver drove on after dropping off the woman, then u-turned and returned to ask her if she was all right as she appeared distraught.

SCHOOLBOYS RUN SCAM CRM Schoolboys run scam Two schoolboy crooks are running a scam by pretending to be collecting funds for a community club.

The duo -- one black youth and one white youth -- have already struck at a Mill Creek warehouse.

And yesterday a Police spokeswoman warned people to be on the lookout for the pair and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The teenage crooks told warehouse staff they were raising money for a planned trip for youngsters organised by Pembroke Community Club and using schoolbooks to record cash receipts and pledges.

Police were tipped off by PCC officials. The Police spokeswoman added that Pembroke Community Club is not asking for donations at the moment -- but it is planning a fundraising drive, scheduled to take place in around two weeks' time.

MAN ARRESTED CRM Man arrested A 33-year-old Sandys Parish man was arrested after allegedly performing an indecent act as women walked by.

The man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after a member of the public reported the man -- who was on Church Street -- to Police.
