A gain in Butterfield Bank shares drove The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index to a positive end of week close yesterday.

Butterfield gained 25 cents to $59.25 on volume of 173 shares on a quiet day in which a trade of 1,309 Argus shares at an unchanged price of $14.50 was the only other trade.

The Index closed up 22.10 points to 4,933.34 on volume of 1,482 shares worth just $29,125.50.
