An American tourist who helped an injured jogger later discovered her purse was missing.

According to Police, the 59-year-old visitor was standing at the westbound bus stop near The Reefs hotel at around 12.20 p.m on Sunday when she went to the aid of a female local jogger who had fallen and injured herself.

The tourist crossed the road and got a taxi for the jogger, who was taken to hospital for treatment to a cut on her chin. When the good Samaritan returned to the bus stop, she discovered that her purse was missing. It contained personal items.

Police have appealed to any witnesses ? particularly the jogger who is described as white and in her 40s and the taxi driver ? to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
