In one incident a woman, from Pembroke, was out with friends at a party in the Number One Shed on Friday evening.

According to Police spokeswoman Evelyn James Barnett, the women told Police she became separated from her friends and met a man.

"After a few drinks, the woman said she drove with him to a large parking lot on one of the South Shore beaches, where she said they sat and talked.

"It was a short time later, she said, that the serious sexual assault took place.'' Mrs. James Barnett added: "Fearing for her safety, and afraid that she would be stranded, the victim said she allowed the man to drive her home, whereupon she informed her room-mate, who called the Police.'' She was able to give Police a brief description and inquiries into the case are continuing.

Police are also appealing for a passer-by, who helped a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted by two youths on the Railway Trail, to come forward.

Officers are questioning two 17-year-old youths in connection with the alleged assault which took place last Tuesday on the Trail, opposite Harlem Heights Road, in Hamilton Parish.

Mrs. James Barnett said the girl was dragged into the trail. She added: "She screamed and shouted for help while struggling. Apparently a jogger passed, but her mouth was covered.

"She continued to struggle and screamed again and this time a man, described only as a Rastafarian with dreadlocks, cames to her assistance, chasing off the youths and escorting her home.'' Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call the Police on 295-0011.
