Azores golf event lures 70 locals
the Azores Pro-Am tournament in March.
That represents the biggest-ever Bermuda turnout at the event, according to Joseph Repose, who has been organising groups from the Island to tournaments in the Azores for the past seven years.
Last year, Ocean View pro Dwayne Pearman and his team of three amateurs won the event and he will bidding for a repeat victory at the Verdegolf Country Club in San Miguel.
Other pros travelling from Bermuda are: Keith Smith, Keith Pearman, J.J.
Madeiros, John Nowobilski, Leo Custodio, Cleveland Tucker, Kevin Benevides, Cornell Bean, Andrew Peniston, Delroy Cambridge, Herbert Minors, Darrick Douglas and Bently Gibbons. Two female teams will also travel, led by pros Judithanne Astwood and Julie Rivers.
The event takes place from March 16 to 24 and there will be a separate tournament just for the Bermuda teams on March 18.
"I'm delighted with the way Bermuda supports the Azores Pro-Am,'' said Repose.
