Teen beaten outside sports club
For the second week in a row, violence erupted outside the Southampton Rangers Club, with the latest beating leaving a teenager in hospital with a cut to the top of his head.
Police said yesterday an unnamed 19-year-old from Southampton was standing alone at the South Shore Road Club at around 10 p.m. on Friday when he was approached by a group of men.
"The group of men then proceeded to beat (him) about the body before making good their escape," Police said yesterday. "The victim was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in a private car, where he was treated for a laceration to the top of his head, swelling to his left leg and pain in his right hip."
Less than three hours after his attack, Police attended KEMH to speak with the injured teen.
"However, the Southampton man declined to prosecute his assailants," Police said.
Last Sunday, Police reported another disturbance in the parking lot of the Southampton sports ground, something that Club president John Tucker said had nothing to do with the Club.
