Alexander Stephens, who died over the weekend aged 81, and sent condolences to his widow Viola.

Sen. Trevor Woolridge (PLP) said he grew up next to Mr. Stephens "and there was never a more pleasant individual''.

He had been a strong family man and a strong churchman and the local community would miss him.

Government leader in the Senate, Sen. Michael Winfield , asked for condolences to be sent also to the widow of Bermuda resident Mr. Kenneth Colin Irving, the Canadian billionaire who died on Sunday, aged 93.

"The mould was broken when K.C. Irving was born,'' he said. "In his own quiet way he helped many, many Bermudians.'' Sen. Winfield also sent congratulations to Mr. Warren Cabral for his production of the pantomime "Sinbad'' at City Hall.

Sen. Jerome Dill (UBP) congratulated the Human Rights Commission for its forum on women's issues last week.
