And to highlight the rich architectural heritage on Bermuda, also noted are outbuildings, churches and even gate posts.

The importance rests, not just with its architectural nature, but also connections with the past or famous residents or important events in the Island's history.

And it won't just be old buildings but new homes which are of special architectural importance. For example, those which have interesting features or encompass traditional Bermudian building methods -- could also be be included.

IT'S OFFICIAL -- Camden, the Premier's official residence, will now be a protected building. Until now, there was little to prevent the historic home from being altered -- or even torn down.
