print of a Policeman who is charged with sexually assaulting a woman in her apartment, Magistrates' Court heard yesterday.

The woman, who brought the charges against the 28-year-old man, testified during an earlier stage of the trial that he entered her apartment during the early morning hours of July 25, 1993, through the bathroom window.

He took off his pants, shoes and socks before getting into her bed.

She said she was awakened by the man who was lying between her legs kissing and licking her.

Det. Sgt. Keith Cassidy, a fingerprint specialist, yesterday told the court that he prepared a comparison chart of fingerprints taken from the scene and those taken from the man at Hamilton Police Station on July 27.

"I marked off 16 characteristics from both prints and found them to be in sequence. This established the identity,'' he said. "The finger print taken from the window was that of the defendant.'' Insp. Derek Smith who conducted the identification parade at the incident room in Prospect, said the woman picked out the accused immediately from the line-up.

"The man placed himself amongst the other persons in the parade. He was second from the left. I asked her if she saw the person in the parade who was in her bedroom. She immediately approached the defendant and touched him on the shoulder before leaving the room.'' Crown Counsel Mr. Stephen Harrison, will sum up the prosecution's case after calling his final witnesses on March 17.
