Ship to bring 6,000 tons of cement

New construction machinery arrived in Bermuda this week to assist with the numerous building projects underway on the Island.

Two forklift trucks and a back hoe excavating machine arrived, along with a trash compressor and steel and lumbar.

The Somers Isles arrived on Monday night and is due to sail out this morning. Along with the items already mentioned, she brought 129 containers, including six refrigerated containers.

The Oleander arrived on Sunday from New Jersey and sailed out yesterday after delivering 121 dry containers and 33 refrigerated containers. She also had on board two cars, a truck, five flatbed trucks and two mafis.

Meyer Agencies reported that on Sunday the fishing vessel Gudni Olafson left the Island after arriving for repairs. She came out of Hawaii and was bound for Iceland.

The Bermuda Islander is due in tomorrow, and will stay for only 24 hours. She was expected to bring 99 containers, including 20 refrigerated containers.

Gravel ship the Nordan Hav will arrive in St. George's on Friday. She will arrive from Aulds Cove in Nova Scotia and will return on Saturday.

Chinese vessel the Thai Ho will arrive tomorrow carrying about 6,000 tons of cement for the Bermuda Cement Company. She will arrive in Dockyard tomorrow afternoon and is expected to stay for a couple of days. And the Sir Eric Sharp cable ship, which arrived in Dockyard on January 22, is still on the Island carrying out cable repairs. It is not yet known when she will leave.
