threatening to take the politician to court.

Ms Roseanne Smith told The Royal Gazette that Mr. Williams recently blocked an access road to her St. George's house with boulders.

The road, she claimed, has been used by members of her family who formerly owned the land, for over a century as a "crossover'' road.

And she said the boulders not only pose a threat to children who play in the area, but prevent large vehicles, such as water or fire trucks from reaching her home in an emergency.

"All the neighbours say: `How can he do this if the property is of no use to him?''' she said yesterday.

And she claimed that in the past, Mr. Williams allowed her family to use the road. But suddenly boulders appeared blocking the entrance without warning from the MP.

"Here is an up and coming PLP politician -- how could he do it to another young black family?'' she asked.

"We have squatters' rights,'' she claimed. "My family has been here for over a 100 years.'' But Mr. Williams said yesterday Ms Smith has no such thing.

"They have absolutely no access across my property,'' he said firmly.

"They do not have squatters' rights and any permission I gave them to use it was out of my own goodwill.'' Mr. Williams admitted giving Ms Smith's brother-in-law permission to access the house by the Wellington Back Road entrance while renovating the house, now occupied by Ms Smith.

But this, he said, was simply because he was being a good neighbour. He even sent her a registered letter, he claimed, giving her first preference to buy the property if he ever decided to sell.

"Ms Smith is a only tenant,'' he claimed. "She does not own her property.'' "But what I do on my own property is my own business,'' he said.
