School from next month, it was announced yesterday.

Mrs. Patricia Holder will take over the post held by Dr. Norma Hendrickson.

Dr. Hendrickson was recently appointed as an assistant to Education Permanent Secretary Dr. Marion Robinson.

A teacher at Berkeley since 1966, Mrs. Holder has taught French and Spanish as well as served as assistant and deputy principal. She was also chairman of the Bermuda Secondary School Certificate's (BSSC) modern language committee.

As acting principal at Berkeley, Mrs. Holder participated in the training of principals in middle level education and a programme to refine principals' supervision skills.

She was also an original member of the Education Planning Team which recommended the introduction of middle schools.

Welcoming her appointment as good news for students and staff at Warwick, Education Minister the Hon. Clarence Terceira said: "Mrs. Holder is a strong member of the local teaching fraternity and very well respected.

"She has the kind of experience which has prepared her well to assist with the transition of Warwick Secondary to its new role as a middle school.'' Mrs. Holder is a graduate of Berkeley. She earned a BA (Honours) in French and Spanish from Queen's University and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the Institute of Education at London University.

She later returned to Queen's to earn a Master's degree in education.

Mrs. Holder, who is married and has two children -- Scott, 25, and Lisa, 21, both at university -- is also a lay reader at St. James Church in Sandys where she resides.
