Lloyd Jenkins put on an awesome hitting display in propelling Cock & Feather to a resounding 16-6 win over Snowballs in Commercial Softball League action
The victory, along with a win by default over Gateway Herd, added up to a perfect weekend for the Division A leaders as they ballooned their lead to four games.
Jenkins went three-for-four at the plate, with a home run and four RBI, but the hitting hero had to share the spotlight with winning pitcher Dennis Pamplin, who helped his own cause by going three-for-three with a home run.
Snowballs' hitting paled in comparison to Cock & Feather batters but Blake Fizzard and Tom Kudirka managed two hits apiece. Mario Valcourt was the losing pitcher.
Team Xerox climbed to third place in the standings with a narrow 16-14 victory over BNTB Flyers. Jim Michelson and Dave Beagle were just two of the hitting heroes for Xerox, as both teams scored with ease against winning pitcher Al Busby and loser Dave Moore.
Showbizz and Prison Officers are tied for the Division C lead with Prison Officers sweeping a pair of weekend games. A resounding 17-3 victory over Skandia Sabres accounted for their burst of hitting confidence as Carlton Fraser and Robert Dill produced the most damage, helping pitcher David Frost to the win.
Centre Re did themselves no favours by losing their weekend game and now find themselves with only a half-game lead over Business Systems in Division D.
In other key games, Flying Chef Flyers defeated Anfossi & Butterfield 13-3, while Cooper & Lines topped Kempe & Whittle 16-11.
HOCKEY HOC Wasps defended their league title on Sunday when they drew 0-0 with Nationals Rebels in the day's only scheduled match.
Needing only one point to retain the title Wasps started strongly with Paul Farrington and Stanley Lee combining well up front. Rebels came more into the game near the end of the first half but the two teams managed little in the way of goal-scoring opportunities despite winning a number of short corners.
The only real chance fell to Wasps' captain David Mocklow who pounced on a muffed clearance by the Rebels defence and blasted a shot, which seemed destined to break the deadlock. However, the ball was miraculously turned around a post by the Rebels goalkeeper.
The second half produced very physical play, especially in the midfield with the teams unable to get the better of each other. Wasps sweeper Bert Rodney played one of his best games of the year despite an eye injury, as he kept Rebels striker Donny Moniz, the league's leading scorer, in check.
The final whistle set off a celebration for the defending champions for whom the league trophy was especially gratifying after losing two of their best players early in the season and playing most of the games short-handed.
The BHA Cup is scheduled for Sunday, March 29, with NSC Rebels meeting Chameleons at 10.30 a.m. and Polecats taking on league champions Wasps at 3 p.m. The final will be played the following Sunday at 3 p.m.
WINDSURFING WIN While the stormy weekend weather caused many to think twice before venturing out, it proved ideal for those competing in the 10th annual Famous Onions Windsurfing Regatta organised by Sail On.

Races were conducted over two days, with eight sailed at Elbow Beach on Saturday and a further eight the following day at Shelly Bay beach.
Winds reaching up to 22 knots greeted competitors at Elbow on Saturday, but by the next day were gusting upwards of 35 knots, providing for exciting action aboard the high seas.
Finishing in second place was Alex Outerbridge on 183 points, registering five victories, while Neil Aitken (313 ) was third.
Defending champion Neil Burnie could only muster a single race win in placing fourth.
Meanwhile, Dave Gillies sailed away with honours in the intermediate category.
