Think before you strike

June 20, 2014

Dear Sir,

How can this be that the very people who marched on Parliament, asking and demanding jobs, are the very same people with the same mindset who struck the ferries with no notice, inconveniencing people including our most precious source of income, the tourists?

If you harm the very source of Government’s income, the tourists, how do you think the Government will have enough money to give you a job, let alone pay you?

Striking must be the last resort, especially when you know what this means to the economy if the tourists get fed up with your selfish arrogance. They will go home in disgust and tell their tale, which we all know is like the pebble in the pond, and perhaps never to come back.

Who will come to get on your ferry? Who will need a taxi? Who will eat out in a restaurant? Who will need a bed and a place to stay?

Well he left, furious that his long-awaited holiday was marred with stress, inconvenience and the doubt that he will ever want to come back.

Love your country enough to resist such damaging behaviour, and see the wisdom of negotiating and cooling things down when the temptation is to strike.

Come on labour, grievances will always be a danger, but with a calm head, guidance and wisdom from your leader, ignore hot heads who just don’t understand.

Together, regardless of colour, creed or religion we can turn our lovely little Island around, away from the rocks towards a promising future for all of us and our children’s children.
