Good luck fixing broken Bermuda

7 May 2014

Dear Sir,

May I thank the present Government for their efforts to turn Bermuda around.

In December 2012 I asked myself why would anyone wish to win the government and therefore be tasked to get a broken Bermuda fixed. I thought that maybe the former government should win the election, as they were responsible for the state of our country, and should bear the brunt of responsibility to return us to good times. After much thought and contemplation I realised that was not a viable option. We were in a mess created mainly by their policies and unaccountability, and if that continued we would more than likely be worse off.

I asked myself, if the present Government was to win would they be in a tenable position or would they get blamed for Bermuda’s demise? What would happen if we continued to decline?

The Opposition would have a field day and try to embarrass or discredit their efforts even knowing they (the Opposition) were mostly the reason for our challenges. Would the present Government regret winning the election in December 2012 as they could be in a no-win position? I certainly hoped not, many people were relying on change, change for the better.

What ever happens going forward, and it seems like a lot could, the present Government will get the blame or the accolades. Let’s hope it is the latter. Many of us are feeling the effects of a broken Bermuda and we can only hope that our current leaders have the knowledge, fortitude and confidence to do what is right so we all can prosper.

Again, good luck and many thanks.
