Be Happy: A scene from the music video Happy (Bermuda). A short clip from the video was among a selection seen by millions of TV viewers on the Oprah Winfrey Network yesterday

A video of Bermudians miming to the lyrics of a hit song was seen by millions of viewers after it aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network yesterday.

The film, which features a montage of Bermuda faces and places accompanied by the upbeat rhythms of US rapper Pharrell Williams’ single ‘Happy’, was part of a compilation of ‘fan videos’ screened as a backdrop to an interview Ms Winfrey conducted with the singer.

Released last year, the track has reached the top of the charts in more than 20 countries, inspiring fans around the world to create their own version of the video to the point where, as Mr Pharrell said during the interview: “It was no longer my song.”

Bermuda’s version of the video, which was made by Into Bermuda, kicked off the compilation, which reduced Mr Pharrell to tears.
