No ordinary field trip

A trip to the BIOS Station left this journalist wanting to come back for more. What began as a seemingly ordinary field trip soon became something much more, as it progressed. The field trip started out with Mr Cole’s S2 IGCSE math class and Ms Key-Holmes S2 IGCSE English class (plus a few journalism students participating in PartnerRe’s Dollars for Hours Program) being ushered into a lab in the BIOS Station. There, the students watched a movie about the different fish that inhabit Bermuda’s reefs. Contrary to what one might think, the students behaved excellently and engaged the instructor, JP Skinner, with verve and intelligence. Then came the fun part of the field trip: the snorkelling. Students were given the opportunity to examine the fish species of Bermuda the best way possible — by going snorkelling off of the BIOS Station’s tip. Though the water was undoubtedly frigid, the students that did take the plunge got a nice swim out of the experience, and over 20 different kinds of fish were identified. Overall, it was a most excellent trip.
