On Thursday October 24th Young Observer spent the morning with S2 students at CedarBridge Academy.

The 100 students were celebrating United Nations Day.

During the morning students discussed different global issues such as Poverty, Human Trafficking, Water, Health, landmines and the reality war has on children’s lives. During the festivities students asked themselves: “What changes would I make if I were President for the day?”

Bethsheba Jones wrote: “If I were President for the day I would improve learning conditions in my country.

“I would create programmes for struggling under privileged students to help them focus on their studies in a safe quiet environment.

“I believe everyone is entitled to an education like mines. I want to be able to utilise it to my ability.”

Deandae Outerbridge wrote: “If I was the President for a day I would stop the wars between Afghanistan and America.

“I would allow all students to get education. Last but not least I would provide, water, food and clothes to the needy and also provide transportation to and from school for the students.”

Shanna Smith wrote: “If I was President for a day I would try my best to stop human trafficking.

“I would make sure all the children around the world were cured and got food to eat.

“I would start charities so that the less fortunate people would have clothes on their backs and food to eat.”
