The last Friday of every April is ‘KNOW Alcohol Day’ a day designated by CADA to culminate a month of activities during Alcohol Awareness Monday.Chairman, Anthony Santucci said the main goal is to “raise awareness about responsible alcohol behaviour” in the local community.The objectives included educating the public about sobriety checkpoints, and to encourage open dialogue between young people and adults about “not drinking until at least the age of 18 and about responsible drinking” thereafter.Said Mr Santucci: “Know Alcohol Day is an opportunity to remind the community that drinking and driving is not acceptable in Bermuda.‘We encourage everyone to remember ABCD, if you plan to consume alcohol Always use Bus, Cab or Designated Driver.To that end, he said CADA is working with a number of licensed establishments to continue to get the message across.Throughout the day today and into the night, bar tenders will wear CADA T-shirts with the ABCD message on it.Participating outlets include The Lemon Tree, Docksiders, Flanagan’s, Bermuda Bistro at The Beach and Rosa’s Cantina.Mr. Santucci concluded: “To find out more about Know Alcohol Day activities, or to learn how to begin the dialogue with your children about alcohol, or to view information about sobriety checkpoints, go to cada.bm.”
