Shabby little town

February 19, 2013.Dear Sir,While your plan for the mega-million dollar Hamilton Waterfront development will undoubtedly be an improvement, please consider the more immediate need for a face lift for the city itself. At present, this once pretty little town is now a little sad and quite shabby. The roads themselves are third-world, especially Reid Street. Vagrants, panhandlers, unattractive lighting, lack of beautifications, derelict and/or boarded up buildings, all create a rather depressing and uninviting appearance. Similar sized towns in the north of England and Canada all manage to have lovely flowers in tubs, baskets, etc, in spite of harsher climates.I understand the Corporation’s coffers are not so well-filled, but perhaps the Government has already seen the need. We would like to know.Let’s do first things first, at a more affordable price tag.JOYCE WATLINGTONPaget
